Matthew Stubbs is a Professor, Academic Lead and Portfolio Lead (Research Quality) at Adelaide Law School at Adelaide University, and Editor in Chief of the Adelaide Law Review. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law. Matthew’s teaching focuses on public law, international law and human rights, and has been recognised by three Australian national teaching awards. His research addresses the intersection of international and public law, with a particular focus on military law, space law and human rights, and has been widely published in books, refereed journals and other outlets. Matthew has held visiting positions at the Centre for Human Rights and International Justice at Stanford University and the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at the University of Oxford. He is a member of the National Human Rights Committee of the Law Council of Australia and is a member and former Chair of the Human Rights and Space Law Committees of the Law Society of South Australia. In 2023 he was awarded the prestigious Law Society of South Australia President’s Medal. Matthew also serves as Chair of the Australian Red Cross Society’s South Australian International Humanitarian Law Advisory Committee.
