Professor The Hon. George Hampel KC was a barrister and then a Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria for 17 years. He was a Professor of Trial Practice and Advocacy, President of the International Institute of Forensic Studies at Monash University, and Founding Chairman of the Australian Advocacy Institute. Professor Hampel chaired a number of Legal Educational bodies. As noted by the Victorian Bar News, “the Bar lost one of its finest and best-known characters” when he passed away in October 2024.
