Margaret Thornton is an Emerita Professor in the School of Law in the College of Law, Governance and Policy at the Australian National University. She has degrees from Sydney, NSW and Yale Universities. Her scholarship includes expertise in discrimination law and policy, feminist legal theory, the legal profession, legal education and the corporatisation of universities, areas in which she has published extensively. She is a former head of a law school and has served on multiple government and university bodies. Her scholarship has been recognised by election to the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and the Australian Academy of Law.
