Dr Kathy Bowrey is a Professor in the Faculty of Law and Justice, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. She is a legal historian and socio-legal researcher whose research explores laws and practices that inform knowledge creation and the production, distribution and reception of technology and culture. Her primary expertise relates to intellectual property, cultural heritage, regulatory theory, media practice, business history and feminist scholarship. She also as a strong interest in law reform and policy impacting higher education research and Indigenous rights.

Professor Bowrey is Co-Director of the International Society for the History and Theory of Intellectual Property, a Visiting Scholar at the State Library of New South Wales (2021) and a Research Fellow at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Australia (2021).
