Barbara McDonald is a Professor of Law at The University of Sydney Law School where she teaches Torts, Tort and Contracts II, aspects of Media Law, and Advanced Obligations and Remedies. She has continuing research interests in the law of negligence and torts generally, breach of confidence, legal and equitable remedies and the law relating to privacy. In 2013-2014 Barbara was a Commissioner of the Australian Law Reform Commission heading its inquiry into Serious Invasions of Privacy in the Digital Era and assisting in its inquiry into the impact of Commonwealth laws on traditional rights and freedoms. She has been a consultant to leading Australian law firms and has appeared in the High Court of Australia. Barbara has commented extensively on statutory reform of the law of negligence in Australia and the developing law of privacy
