Professor Simon Bronitt is Head and Dean of the University of Sydney Law School. Prior to that, he served as a Professor of Law and Deputy Dean (Research) in the TC Beirne School of Law, The University of Queensland. Simon previously held academic posts at Griffith University, serving as Director of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security (2009-2014), and at the Australian National University (1991-2009). Published widely on gender, criminal justice and the law, his research adopts a sociolegal and interdisciplinary perspective. His commitment to a contextual approach to understanding law and justice is reflected in Law in Context (4th ed, Federation Press, 2012 with Stephen Bottomley) and Principles of Criminal Law (4th ed, Thomson Reuters, 2017 with Bernadette McSherry).
