Lauren Butterly is the CEO of PrideWA. Prior to commencing this role, she had a successful career in law – both as a practising lawyer and legal academic in the areas of native title, Indigenous rights, environmental law/governance and administrative law. She has worked as a lawyer in a top tier national law firm, as a Special Counsel (specialising in Aboriginal heritage law) at the Environmental Defenders Office and as a law lecturer at UNSW, ANU and UWA.

Her book Reconciling Sovereignties Over Sea Country in the Northern Territory is based on her PhD which was awarded the prestigious national Australian Legal Research Awards PhD Award for doctoral excellence.
