Larissa Behrendt is Professor of Law and Director of Research at the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning at UTS.Behrendt graduated from UNSW Law School in 1992 and has since completed her Master of Laws and Doctorate at Harvard Law School. As well as being a practising lawyer and lecturer, she has worked with the United Nations, is currently Alternate Chair of the Serious Offenders Review and a Land Commissioner at the Land and Environment Court. She is a Director of the Bangarra Dance Theatre and of the Museum of Contemporary Art. She is also the Chair of National Indigenous Television.

She has published in the areas of property law, equity, Indigenous rights and governance, dispute resolution and Aboriginal women’s issues. Her first novel, Home published by University of Qld Press, 2004, which won a Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for the Best First Book in the South East Asia and South Pacific region (2005); the David Unaipon Award (2002).
