Jemina Napier is Professor and Chair of Intercultural Communication in the Department of Languages & Intercultural Studies at Heriot-Watt University, where she teaches language interpreting theory and practice at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has nearly 30 years’ experience as a sign language interpreter, working in either BSL, Auslan or International Sign. Jemina holds a PhD in Linguistics, an MA in BSL/English Interpreting and an MEd in Professional and Higher Education. She has published over 100 book chapters and articles on sign language interpreting and interpreting pedagogy, and was the inaugural editor of the International Journal of Interpreter Education.
