Dr Carolyn M Hendriks is a Lecturer at the Crawford School of Economics and Government at the Australian National University. Over the past 15 years she has worked as a researcher in consulting and academic environments based in Australia and Europe, including Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria. She has a PhD in Political Science (ANU) and  a  B Env Eng (Hons I) (UNSW). Her fields of research include deliberative democracy, democratic practice in public policy, and governance for sustainability, and she has published in various international journals including Policy Sciences, Politics and SocietyPublic Administration, and Political Studies. She has also practised as an environmental engineer, and has conducted research for the Institute for Sustainable Futures (UTS), management consulting firm Arthur D Little (Zurich), and Sydney-based engineering group CMPS&F.
