Bernadette McSherry is an Australian Research Council Federation Fellow and Professor of Law at Monash University. She has published extensively in the fields of criminal law and mental health laws and has been a consultant to various governments on law reform issues.
She is a legal member of the Mental Health Review Board of Victoria and the Psychosurgery Review Board of Victoria and is currently directing a team of 16 researchers investigating mental health laws in common law countries as part of her Australian Research Council Federation Fellowship project.

She is also working on another Australian Research Council Discovery project on sex offenders and preventive detention with Professor Patrick Keyzer and partner investigators in Scotland and the United States of America.
