Amanda is a practising lawyer with a PhD in constitutional and administrative law. Her doctoral thesis examined the extent to which Australian judicial review principles are capable of application to an exercise of non-statutory executive power. Before embarking on her doctoral studies, Amanda practised as a lawyer in the private and public sectors and was an Associate to the Hon. Justice Catherine Branson of the Federal Court of Australia. She also lectured in constitutional and administrative law at the Fremantle campus of the University of Notre Dame Australia and in administrative law at the University of New South Wales.

Amanda holds a PhD from the University of Sydney and an LLB (First Class Honours)/BCom (High Distinction) from the University of Notre Dame Australia.
