Celeste Black is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Sydney, where she developed and has taught an undergraduate unit in animal law since 2009. She has a BA (cum laude) from Harvard University, a JD from the University of Pennsylvania and an LLM (first class honours) from the Sydney Law School. She is currently writing her PhD at Macquarie University in her other field of research interest, taxation law.

Celeste frequently presents and publishes on animal law issues and is a founding and executive member of the Human Animal Research Network at the University of Sydney, where this network fosters interdisciplinary dialogue and research in human animal studies. Celeste is also a member of the NSW Animal Research Review Panel.
