Tim Lindsey AO

Tim Lindsey is Professor of Law, ARC Federation Fellow, Director of the Asian Law Centre and Co-Director of the Centre for Islamic Law and Society, all at the University of Melbourne. He is an internationally acknowledged expert on Indonesian law.

His publications include ‘Public Faces of Shari’ah in Contemporary Indonesia: Towards a national Madhab’ (2003, with M B Hooker); Chinese Indonesians (2005, with Helen Pausacker); Corruption in Asia (2002, with Howard Dick); and ‘Law Reform in Developing and Transitional States’ (2007).

In 2018 Professor Tim Lindsey AO was made an officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to international relations, particularly in promoting understanding between Indonesia and Australia, as an academic, and to legal education in Islamic law.
