Simon Rice is a Professor of Law at the University of Sydney. Immediately before joining Sydney Law School, Simon was a Professor of Law, and Director of Law Reform and Social Justice, at the Australian National University College of Law.

From 1996-2011 he was a part-time judicial member of the NSW Administrative Decisions Tribunal in the Equal Opportunity Division. He is a past President of Australian Lawyers for Human Rights, a former Director of the NSW Law Foundation, and formerly legal adviser to the Federal Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights. He is also a co-author of The International Law of Human Rights (2017).
