Michael Lowe worked as a registered nurse until graduating in medicine in 1989. He became interested in ethics as a junior doctor at Royal Darwin Hospital, and from 1999 to 2002 he worked at the Fiji School of Medicine. In 2003 he moved to Royal Darwin Hospital and the Northern Territory Clinical School where he was Clinical Dean until 2010. He is now Community Geriatrician for the Top End of the Northern Territory. His current interests include clinical ethics, medical education, care of the elderly, and Indigenous health.
