Mark is a Professor in the Faculty of Law at Monash University, a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Council of Australia and Special Counsel with Knightsbridge Lawyers. He was a member of the Australian Government’s Advisory Council on Intellectual Property when it reviewed the innovation patent, has been a chief investigator on five ARC grants and has consulted to numerous governments, NGOs and private organisations. He is an author of numerous monographs and reference works, including Shanahan’s Australian Law of Trade Marks and Passing Off (Thomson) and The Legal Protection of Databases (Cambridge).
