John is a barrister in the Western Australian Bar Association and adjunct academic with the university of Western Australia (Law School) and University of Dundee (Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy). John has practised in commercial and human rights areas since the early 1990s. He worked originally with Corrs Chambers Westgarth, including on occupational health and safety matters in the resources sector, commercial disputes between gas and mining companies, and general commercial litigation. He researches and teaches in mining regulation and also on human rights and resources. He has published and presented on topics including human rights and business, mining regulation and also on human rights and business, mining regulation, climate change, Indigenous rights, minerals taxation, CSR regulation, and mining agreements. He holds a law degree from the University of Western Australia and MBA in Mineral Resource Management from the University of Dundee.
