John Littrich was admitted as a lawyer in 1989 and practised as a solicitor in the Illawarra area of New South Wales, becoming an accredited specialist in Family Law. He joined the Faculty of Law at the University of Wollongong (UOW) as a lecturer in the Practical Legal Training (PLT) Course in 2002 and, since that time, has also taught in and coordinated a number of subjects, including Family Law, Advanced Family Law, Public Interest Law and Ethics and Professional Responsibility. In 2010, John was co-recipient of an ALTC citation in 2010 for his work in the UOW PLT program. Now a senior lecturer, John coordinates the School’s Legal Internship Program and various other experiential learning programs. He also coordinates the UOW LLB Skills Program.

Between 2014 and 2017, John served on the Admissions Committee of the Legal Services Council, which oversaw the development and implementation of the Uniform Admission Rules under the Legal Profession Uniform Law.

During his years of practice, John was also a regular volunteer with the Illawarra Legal Centre and has been a long term member of the Centre’s Management Board. In 2018, John was the recipient of the UOW Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Community Engagement.
